A player's decision on where he will play his Jr. A hockey must take into consideration a number of factors. The Pontiac organization is very confident in what we have to offer the players in all aspects of their hockey and personal development.

a). Hockey Development

The Pontiacs play a 64 game regular season schedule it what is arguably the top Jr. A league in Canada, the Alberta Jr. Hockey League.

Practice is held daily at 2:15 pm, with over 100 practices scheduled each season. This schedule does not interfere with school or employment opportunities while a member of the Pontiacs in any way.

The players must also show commitment to a full-time dryland training program, with a fully modern, privately run facility at our disposal.

b). Education

The community of Bonnyville and the surrounding area offers a number of different educational opportunities that the Pontiac Hockey Club fully supports. We encourage our players to better themselves as individuals, either through concentrated effort in High School, some type of post-secondary education, paid for by the team, or through part time employment in the community, which the team sponsors.

The local High Schools work in partnership with the team, allowing our players to balance the demanding schedules of both school and Jr. A hockey.

The Pontiacs sponsor on site schooling provided through Portage College. The players have the opportunity to take a variety of first year college courses right at the arena which are transferable to Canadian Universities.

c). Player Needs

The Pontiac billet program is 2nd to none. Our billet families are very outgoing, hockey supporters, who open their homes and accept our players as part of their own families. We take special care in placing our players in an environment which best suits their individual personalities.

The Pontiacs are responsible for room and board, players equipment, sticks, team sportswear, and any education costs while a member of the Pontiacs.
